Notes on Making a Differance

  1. Levon Sullivan- Civil Right Leader. He went to over 50 company to ASK them if they would interview young African Americans.
  2. Ansel Adams- He was hyper-active and dyslexic. He broke his nose and it remained crooked for the rest of his life.
  3. Susan B. Anthony- She wanted all races to be treated equally. She was arrested for telling the court that she was not going to pay her find.
  4. Indira Gandhi- Her father was the first prime minister of India. She was assassinated.
  5. Rachel Carson- Marine Biologists. She fought against the government to stop the use of synthetic chemicals in pesticides.
  6. Caesar Shavez-  Latino Civil Rights Activist. He was against slavery.
  7. Roger Baldwin- Went to Harvard. He spent a year in jail because he didn't send a draft in for the military.
  8. Eva Peron- First lady at 27 years old. It took twenty years for her to be buried after her death.
  9. Akbar The Great- He took throne in India at the age of 15. He had about six wives  and lots of kids. He would weigh himself in gold and silver and give it to the needy.
  10. Aung San Suu Kyi- Her father created the Burmese Military. Lived in three different countries during her childhood.
  11. Jane Adams- He produced eleven books. She was vice president of the Camp Fire Girls.
  12. John Muir- He was an explorer. His father made him work during his childhood.
  13. Deganawide- His name means two river currents running together. He put an end to cannibalism in tribes. The Great Peace Maker.
  14. W. Dubois- He wanted equality for blacks. He was 95 when he died of old age.
  15. Jaques Caustaue- He learned to swim at the age of four.  he invented the scuba diving tank.
  16. Ida B. Wells- Her parents were slaves. Her parents and brother die of Yellow Fever. She refused to give up her seat 71 years before Rosa Parks did.
